The Reason For "HONORS"

Our Honors is focused on honoring positive contributions by West Coast LGBT People of Color; Honors gives us an opportunity to gather as a community to celebrate and shine light on the talent, dedication and efforts that positively impact our community.

The event is a mix of education and entertainment, while raising awareness and encouraging community building and spirit. Our Honors Awards is presented by community for community, Honors is a nominated awards program, decisions about who receive awards are finalized by the awards committee, which include  honoree alumni, community members and UWC's Board of Directors.

Submit an Unsung Hero

Is there someone out there who has changed your life for the better?

Maybe it's a nurse who fought in your corner, a random stranger who helped you in a time of need, or a teacher who saw the best in you when no-one else did.

Or, perhaps it's someone a bit closer to home - a family member or friend who deserves a shout-out for how much they've impacted your life.

This is your opportunity to give thanks where it's due and sing the praises of people who might not even realize what they've done.

Tell us about your unsung hero in 300-800 words, and if you've got a photo of them, we'd love to see it.
